Short-Term Motorcycle Leasing, Long Term Motorbike Hire

Add comment April 11th, 2016

Not everyone can justify having a motorcycle all year round.  Whether it’s family commitments, work or you just don’t want something in the garage taking up space for half the year, motorcycle ownership isn’t for everyone.

And that’s why Spyder Motorcycles has created its short-term motorcycle leasing service!  It allows those who have a dormant motorbike licence to start using it again on a part-time basis.  Spyder Motorcycles can provide you with the bike, insurance and for those who need it, a back to riding course with our partner Progressive Road Skills.

It’s as simple as that, get in touch with Spyder Motorcycles, discuss the bikes available, fill in a quick insurance form, sign terms and away you go!  If you are one of the many motorcycle licence holders currently watching us lot on two wheels with envy, start leasing a motorbike through Spyder Motorcycles and feel the freedom once again.

Spyder Motorcycles Short-Term Motorcycle Leasing, have a bike in your garage when you want it, and not when you don’t!

Progressive Road Skills Advanced Motorcycle Training

Add comment October 13th, 2015

Progressive Road Skills, the story so far….

In December 2014 I got together with Spyder Club with the purpose of passing on 30 years of advanced riding and driving knowledge from the police and armed forces.

As a Class 1 Advanced driver and rider, I am in a unique position of being able to read the road well and make progress safely. After years of personal training and assessments behind me and in partnership with Spyder Club, Progressive Road Skills was born!

Throughout 2015 I have enjoyed offering Spyder Club members, amongst other clients, advanced motorcycle coaching to enhance their riding and driving skills and ultimately make them safer, more progressive road users, and of course have more fun!

Having started riding in fields at the age of 10 on my brothers TS185, I couldn’t wait to pass my test, which I did at 17 riding on a Yamaha RD 125 LC.  Since then I’ve been fortunate to ride lots of 2 and 4 stroke motorcycles both on and off road, with the highlights being a 2015 R1M track bike, MV F4RR and RD500LC YPVS.

After retiring from policing, I have enjoyed spending time furthering my off road abilities with BMW, enhancing my track skills with the California Superbike School and joining Spyder Club as a member and trip guest.  It has been great to ride lots of different motorcycles without having to own them and the different bike experiences have allowed me to progress my skills, as all members do, we never stop learning!

With Progressive Road Skills up and running in May and having spent the winter months with my first student, SpyderLizzi, Spyder Club set about promoting Progressive Road Skills to members, it’s been a fantastic first year!

From five-day one to one courses in the car, to one to two assessment days on the bikes, the feedback has been very positive.

To put it simply, I’m an extremely happy customer.  I went from having very little confidence on the bike and being very sceptical of acquiring any usable riding skills to a much improved rider by the end of the 4 days.  Edward

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for the last three coaching sessions in London.  My filtering is now far safer and progressive and I’m really enjoying riding again on country roads once I get out of the City.  I knew you had a reputation at work for being a fast rider but I didn’t realise how smooth and safe you are.  You make it look so natural and I didn’t realise a GS could do that….  Pete

Thought I should let you know how much I have gained in confidence since the driving lessons with you.  I must admit that I was somewhat sceptical that I would gain any confidence in only two sessions!  However, I am glad to tell you that, because of your lessons, I have decided to drive to Worcester tomorrow instead of taking the train.  I also very much appreciated that your lessons did not follow a pre-set agenda but were tailored to my specific needs.  Susan

It was an absolutely fantastic day and I learnt so much from you.  Your style, practical approach, friendliness and ability to convey information was superb.  Thanks again, by the final ride I felt a good 10% better rider with a whole load of stuff to practice and work on at home.  I look forward to the next four days coaching…  Thanks.  Mike

Just spent the day with David at Progressive Road Skills, David has a very easy manner and is a great communicator. Having passed my advanced riding test a few years ago with the IAM, I thought I rode at a good standard, but a day with David has allowed me to raise my game even more, and given me valuable insight into how the Police riders approach their riding.  Money well spent and I would recommend David to anyone wishing to improve the riding from whatever standard they are currently at. Thanks David, Steve

With winter fast approaching and road conditions deteriorating, there is never a better time to invest in advanced riding skills.  Therefore over the next four months, the following offers apply:

Assessment day, £85 members, £100 non-members
Spyder Club members, £125 for a days coaching
Non-members rate, £150 for a days coaching

Multi day bookings will receive a further 10%, terms and conditions apply.

For more information or to discuss the benefits of advanced motorcycle coaching, please email David or call 07740 022880, thank you, David, Progressive Road Skills

Bradley Smith and Scott Redding on the Podium

The Misano MotoGP round during the weekend was a crazy race that saw Valentino Rossi make a massive mistake and potentially lose his championship lead.  However a Lorenzo crash righted his error and whilst there was no Rossi win to celebrate, the end result was just as good, with Bradley Smith and Scott Redding both on the podium, a fantastic result for the Brits!

Motorcycle Hire at Spyder Club

Add comment May 8th, 2015

Ever thought of hiring a motorcycle? Renting a motorbike for a period of time either to get to know it before you buy or because you have a big trip planned and your sports bike won’t fit the bill, for instance!

Spyder Club has been providing motorcycles through it’s members club scheme since 2008. In 2014 we teamed up with Ducati UK and KTM UK and became motorcycle hire partners, providing motorcycle enthusiasts with the opportunity to enjoy more bikes. We also took on many new BMW motorcycles, Triumph bikes and partnered with MV Agusta dealership, Bennetts Motorcycles in Barnsley, to offer even more motorcycles to hire.

Whether you want a BMW R1200GS, KTM Advenutre, Ducati Multistrada or Triumph Tiger to rent for the annual trip to Europe or a Ducati Panigale, BMW S1000RR, Triumph Daytona, MV Agusta F4 or KTM RC8 to hire for a special day out, Spyder Club Motorcycle Rental service can help!

Our rental service can also be used by riders wanting a proper test ride prior to buying. It may cost you to rent a motorcycle for a weekend but it gives you a far better idea of the bike you are interested in buying than a 30 minute test ride. Spending £10,000 plus on a motorcycle that you realise isn’t right is an expensive mistake, spending money on a day or weekends motorcycle hire and making the right decision on the other hand, is money well spent.

So if you enjoy the prospect of riding lots of different motorcycles through our motorbike hire service, or renting what could be your next pride and joy, please get in touch with Spyder Club to discuss this further, we look forward to hearing from you.

Spyder Club Metzeler Sportec M7 RR

Add comment July 17th, 2014

We had a great catch up on Tuesday with the guys from Metzeler and talked about the new Sportec M7 RR

It’s interesting because it is a tyre developed largely from Metzeler’s experience through the TT and other British road races so it truly is a tyre developed for British roads.

Often people settle for a sports-touring tyre as they want a tyre that can do a bit of everything – track, motorway, road and touring – albeit none really well. The M7 RR is dual compound and purports to excel at all of them.

We’ll hopefully have some on one of the fleet bikes soon so we’ll gauge Spyder Club member opinion but hey, if it’s good enough for Guy Martin…

MotoGP Teams Can Run Four Riders From 2014

Add comment July 30th, 2013

It’s bound to improve things and let’s hope it works as currently there could be some very good riders either leaving MotoGP or staying on the CRT bikes and not properly fulfilling their potential!

Allowing four riders in each factory team means outstanding racers like Cal Crutchlow and Aleix Espargaro get the opportunity to ride equal machinery to those at the front. Stefan Bradl should also stay on what is essentially a factory bike (if his performance at Laguna Seca continues) and up and coming riders such as Scott Redding and Pol Espargaro will be able to enter teams worthy of their talent. Not that any MotoGP, factory, satellite or CRT isn’t but lets face it, as fans the more competitive they are the better the entertainment!

As top flight racing becomes ever more governed by electronics, it takes the best of the best to put on the greatest show. Therefore providing more front running bikes will keep the talent in the field and bring in new racers which should result in closer action and not see world class riders losing opportunities.

A year ago we watched Stoner, Pedrosa and Lorenzo run away at the front with Crutchlow often amazing us by being there or thereabouts. In 2013 Rossi is back, Crutchlow is getting better and better and Marquez is a revalation! The aliens numbers have increased and there is racing! If there are more factory riders it 2014, we can look forward to a bigger invasion!!!
