Spyder Club Arrive at the Isle of Man TT

Add comment May 30th, 2013

Spyder Club arrived on the Isle of Man in beautiful sunshine. Whilst the days since have been sunny some of the practice sessions have had mixed weather hampering them but still we’ve seen a lot.

The focus of the trip has been watching the event and spending time enjoying the TT itself. Nevertheless guests have ridden the TT course and enjoyed some of the quieter roads that the Isle of Man has to offer.

Scott Redding!

Scott Redding rode brilliantly in mixed weather to finally win his first race as a Moto 2 rider.  During a ride which saw his main rivals succumb to the difficult conditions, Scott pushed hard and managed to keep control of his lead.

“I knew I was fast and that I could pull a gap when I wanted, but the rain made it even more interesting; for two or three laps I put my hand up and the guys were catching me. I thought, ‘I´m going to have to try and go,’ and then I was sliding so much and trying to put my hand up while sliding. Then we had a red flag so I knew it was mine. I’m just so happy to get my first victory in Moto2!”

Cal Crutchlow also rode really well with a broken bone is his leg to achieve his highest ever finish in MotoGP in second place and Bradley Smith finished well in 9th.

Great to see the British boys fighting at the top!

Its three weeks today that we’ll be receiving our first guests to the IOM TT practice week followed by the second group a week later for race week. We’ve all been looking forward to this for a long time and we are now just weeks away!

With 18 guests booked over the two weeks, it’ll be a first for Spyder Club attending the TT. With the usual benefits of a Spyder Club trip in place, bikes waiting, accommodation taken care of, like minded company to enjoy and transportation to the various places to watch the racing, our guests will enjoy being well looked after whilst experiencing the thrill of the legendary Isle of Man TT.

We are already taking bookings for the TT in 2014, if you’d like to find out more, give us a call on 0845 2000 868

Celebration of Life and KTM SMT

Add comment May 1st, 2013

It’s a strange subject heading but one Vince would appreciate!

This Saturday saw the Celebration of Life ceremony for Vince Kerr who died just over a year ago of a heart attack, 25th April 2012. It was an exceptionally well attended do with his three girls being brave enough to speak about their father, his son providing the muscle and his wife making sure everyone enjoyed themselves. It really was a celebration!

Vince was a larger than life character, a very successful man who had turned from business to devote his time to his family and his passions: motorcycles and fishing. He was a massive part of Spyder Club, finding the time to use us to the full and still ride his vast collection of classic and modern bikes, 25 at one point and never under 20!

He spent much time looking into how to progress Spyder Club and had, a month before his death, shown his interest in investing in the business. He had many new friends within the club as it had become a big part of his life.

So it was very appropriate that so many members took the time to say goodbye on Saturday and show their respects to Vince and his family.

Why the KTM SMT, because I rode it the long way to Monmouth for the ceremony. Via another members house in Bristol for a night out on Friday with a few other guys and then up to Hereford on Saturday evening, before turning for home on Sunday.  In all 450 miles and a massive smile. Vince would have loved it, agile, punchy and enough power to be quick whilst needing to work it to get it at it’s best, perfect! We’ll review this bike properly another time.

We’ll miss you Vince, as your son said, he wishes Spyder Club still came to deliver bikes, and as Hubert said, what a great club Spyder Club has become, so much respect for one another, you’ll always be a part of it!

We miss you big man, ride safe wherever you are!!
