Two more bikes will be arriving at Spyder Club in time for next weekends Open Day near Oxford on Saturday the 8th September. The very special BMW HP2 Sport has been purchased through Pidcock BMW, a stunning motorcycle with superb handling and plenty of power for the road. It’s a bike members have been requesting for some time and they are looking forward to riding it in Spain in November and March!

Spyder Club Honda CB1100RC

Also available through Spyder Club is the 80’s homologation, the Honda CB1100RC, one of approximately 1,500 built in 1982. This road going racer will make a very interesting addition to the Spyder Club fleet with members already stating their interest.

Spyder Club Review: Metzeler Roadtec Z8 Interact

Add comment August 28th, 2012

The Metzeler Roadtec Z8 is fast becoming the tyre of choice for much of the Spyder Club fleet and it seems that we’re not in the minority!

Having ridden Spyder Club bikes with the Metzeler Roadtec Z8 many of our members are now riding on these tyres, having a harder compound on the centre and and ‘stickier’ sides they cope well with all road riding and do a fine job on track if required. Add to that, they last for over 5,000 miles, makes it a superb choice of tyre!

In a recent test at the world renowned Motorrad test centre in Germany, the Roadtec outperformed it’s competitors which included the Bridgestone Battlax BT 023, the Continental Road Attack2, the Dunlop Sportmax Roadsmart II and the Michelin Pilot Road 3.  Read the full Motorrad review here.

MCN are also in agreement, read their article below and watch the short video on how the tyre performs in the wet:

The Advantages of Fly-Ride Motorcycle Tours

Add comment August 17th, 2012

Spyder_Club_Alps_Motorcycle_Tour_Sept_2011

The attraction of motorcycling is the freedom, the exhilaration, the ability of the machine you’re commanding and the way you command it! Get the corner right and you feel like a racing legend, get it wrong and you feel you’ve let the side down, it’s an art form and we love it!

For the majority the joy of throwing your kit onto your bike and heading off into the mountains to find the best twisting roads it the idea of holiday heaven but for many these days, time is against them. The pressure of family life and work mean taking a week away isn’t always feasible. Add to that the motorway stints to get to our favourite European destinations – and then again on the return home – and it can become very time consuming.

And that’s where the advantages of a fly-ride motorcycle tour come in. Arrive at the start of a long weekends riding, fresh from a short haul flight, off the hotel transfer bus and into the bar to meet a group of like-minded riders on the first night, perfect! No long days in the saddle squaring off your tyres, just a fleet of exceptional bikes waiting!!

Spyder_Club_Alps_June_2011

With routes planned it’s all very simple, jump on a bike and follow the guide across well chosen roads through some of Europe’s most breathtaking scenery, stopping along the way to swap bikes, gaining valuable experiences which ultimately improve your riding and make you want to ride more.

On Spyder Club fly-ride trips we take care to bring like minded motorcycle enthusiasts together, giving our guests the opportunity to make new friends whilst enjoying a fleet of diverse motorcycles currently including the sublime Ducati 1199 Panigale, a back to basics and all the better for it, Bimota DB4 and the incredibly accomplished Norton Commando 961.

In addition to the good company and incredible motorcycles we add challenging routes that every riding enthusiast will remember with a smile, weeks after returning home! What are the advantages? Excellent company, no hassle motorcycling for the busy rider and routes and bikes you’ll want to enjoy again and again!

Spyder Club Yorkshire Dales Weekend Motorcycle Tour

Spyder Club have just returned from a wonderful weekend of riding through the Yorkshire Dales. The Ducati Panigale 1199, Husqvarna Nuda R and Yamaha R1 were thoroughly enjoyed with all three members swapping bikes along the way.
All the machines performed brilliantly with each bike suiting a different road, take a look at our Facebook page for some pictures.

The Ronda Road, Andalucia, Spain

It’s one of the best roads we ride, winding up from San Pedro on the Mediterranean coast to Ronda, high up in the Andalucian mountains. At the beginning the signpost reads 48 K, the next 30 to 40 minutes are non-stop fun!

The corners never stop, sweeping from left to right as the gradient rises gently – the surface beneath your tyres inspires confidence so you can enjoy the challenges before you. On the way up there are a few cafes to stop and take in the scenery and watch the other bikes fly by. You always know a road is good by the amount of locals on it and the road to Ronda always brings them out.

It’s also a road regularly used by manufacturers to launch new models, we saw Ducati Diavels and BMW K1600’s in early 2011 being ridden by journalists, all enjoying the sunshine of Spain.

As you leave San Pedro there’s enough traffic to hold you up however as you climb the traffic vanishes. We’ve been there during the week and weekends and it’s the same, once you start climbing away from the heavily populated coastal region you can make good progress!

It’s a superb two wheeled experience and one we look forward year after year. It never lets you down, the higher up you go the more sweeping the bends become, lower down it challenges the rider, honing your skills and developing your riding.

Normally heading down hill can be more challenging and less enjoyable but the Ronda road blesses you with two wheeled heaven either way you go! If you’ve never ridden the A-397, get yourself to Andalucia, southern Spain, it really is one of many exceptional roads!

Spyder Club are visit Spain in November 2012 and March 2013. Our routes take in the Ronda road, up and down!
