Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner at Jerez MotoGP

April 4th, 2011

Casey Stoner had some choice words for Valentino Rossi after the GOAT ended Stoner’s chances for a race win at Jerez during a racing incident. Rossi apologized to the Australian at the end of the race – albeit with his helmet still on and possibly a wry smile underneath – which Stoner didn’t take well and after asking Rossi about his shoulder injury stated that maybe Rossi’s ‘ambition was greater than your talent!’ An interesting comment to make to a 9 times world champion!

After an extremely eventful race which saw Cal Crutchlow, Colin Edwards and the race leader Marco Simoncelli all crash, Rossi subsequently finished the race in fifth. The race win was once again taken by Jorge Lorenzo who maintained his reputation for reliability that he gained after winning the title last year.

The British boys finished well with Danny Kent and Taylor Mackenzie 4th and 5th respectively. Bradley Smith, after leading the Moto 2 race, finished a creditable 4th in his second ever Moto 2 race and Cal Crutchlow eventually finished well in the points at 8th.
